PLOT SEEKER TIPS

"The Plot Seeker" is one of the best tipsters I know and a specialist of Flat Racing.  The name says what his forte is as he has a knack of picking out horses that have been "plotted" by their connections to win predominantly handicaps.  He has a wealth of experience and knowledge in the game and picking out "plots" are not his only strength.  He has been a great asset over the past couple of years to my individual betting.

I am delighted that he has agreed to write exclusively for davemooretips.com and I'm sure readers will find his section both interesting and profitable.

Hello all,

6:15 Chelmsford - NURSE NIGHTINGALE - 3pts Win @ 4/1

The winless run continues but I sense we're about to turn a corner.  I have looked at the main contenders in this race and think the race will pan out as follows: Woofie and Sputnik Planum will set a decent pace.  Regal Gait will run his usual race and sit behind the leaders waiting to pounce.  Sputnik Planum may prefer this longer trip but I didn't get the impression of being suited by this longer trip from the last race.  Uptown funk is not a straightforward horse and could well pop up with the goods any day. I hope it's not today.  I fear Kerrera but I hope the 6lb difference would easily get my selection home.

That selection is Nurse Nightingale, who I believe is a class above this field and will have the race run to suit, with 14 runners including Woofie and Sputnik Planum to ensure a good pace is set.  De Sousa rides, a headgear is fitted and there's been some support overnight.  When seen last time out, she got going too late and certainly wasn't stopping.  She got checked 2 furlongs out, lost momentum but still managed to finish in the frame.  It is also worth noting the last run came just after a 3 month break so should be much fitter today.

Good luck!

Hello all,

I'm back!  Results have been a bit suspect in the last few weeks so I decided to take a little break until the weather settled.

I have 1 selection today with a really good card at Salisbury;

4:20 Salisbury - KASSIA - 1pt EW @ 6/1 (Coral)

Kassia has been tried in a few races where she was highly unlikely to be competitive.  This class 2 race is right up her street.  Runs 3lbs higher than when she last won, bearing in mind the trainer was very confident that day.  She has top weight to contend with today but she's fit and should have no problems putting up a really good performance today.

Good luck!

Hello all,

4 selections today

It's all about Tony Carroll and seeking his plots this week at Brighton.

A trainer with a great record at Brighton who has not less than 4 well handicapped horses running today.  Any market moves for his horses will prove very significant so make sure you monitor them.  Over the past few weeks, I made a note of a few of his horses who I believe are plots!

Pour la Victoire 3:20 Brighton 1pt EW @ 16/1

Visored 1st time. I'm surprised they decided to go for this race, however this horse has been pulled from 2 races in the last 2 weeks. I would be surprised if it doesn't perform well today off bottom weight.

De Vegas Kid 4:50 Brighton 2pts win @ 7/1
Sienna Says 1:50 Brighton 1pt win @ 3/1
Suni Dancer 5:20 Brighton 1pt win @ 7/2

Good luck!

Hello all,

1 selection today

RED PIKE 3:45 Ripon 2pts Win @ 9/1

A horse that I've had in my notebook for a long time.  He's not had conditions to suit for months and as a result, his handicap rating has plummeted.  With conditions to suit here, he should really be taking full advantage at a decent price.  He's run well at Ripon before, trainer is in good form and with a level break, should take all the beating.   Looking at the horses at the head of the market, the top 2 ran just over a week ago so the chances are they have come out to race too soon.

Next bet will be on Wednesday where I'm hoping there'll be lots of fun to be had at the Brighton festival.

Good luck!

Hello all,

1 selection today

Eddystone Rock 1:50 Goodwood 1pt EW @ 12/1

I tipped Eddy back in June when he ran a very encouraging race by coming 2nd to a Johnston horse.  Thankfully, Johnston doesn't have a runner here; a race in which he's trained 4 of the last 8 winners.

Eddy loves soft ground, has shown he's capable of turning in a decent performance on good ground, which we'll be getting today.  His last race at York was also encouraging having stayed on and making ground at the finish.  He's drawn favourably in stall 5 with his usual jockey on board.  There has been some money for him overnight which suggests the owners are expecting a strong performance.  Let's hope he can get us off to a flyer this August and end this miserable run!

Good luck!

Hi all,

4 selections today

Angel Gabriel 4:25 York 1pt win @ 11/4

Very well handicapped, handles good to soft ground and ran very encouragingly last time out. Very likely to get his head in front this time around.

Horroob 3:05 Newcastle 2pt win @ 5/2

Highly regarded horse who I believe we haven't seen the best of yet. Drops back in trip and class, having been hampered last time out. Very good chance

Jack Hobbs 3:35 Ascot 1pt EW @ 5/1

Ground and trip will suit very well.  At the price, he's a safe each way to finish in the top 3. Enable is a class act but ran in a tough race only 2 weeks ago. Jack Hobbs is well primed for this. Big chance

Mazalto 6:30 Lingfield 1pt Win @ 5/1

Trainer is coming back to form.  This is a horse I've been monitoring for a while and this will be her easiest opportunity to get her head in front.

Good luck!

  Hello all,
2 selections today.

5:00 Ayr - EASY WIND 1pt Win @ 9/4

It's been a very long time since a Prescott handicap plot has been backed early so I suspect this one is above average and is capable of winning this race.  It seems an awfully long way for Prescott to travel for just one horse.  Easy Wind didn't show much on the first two runs but the third was a much improved effort.  I'm willing to take a chance on Prescott as his horses are on form and he is a master of handicap debut plots.

4:45 Ffos Las - EDGE 1pt EW @ 9/1

This one looks like a plot.  Ran no sort of race last time out.  Was placed at the back to start with, then ran on the outside for most of the race and certainly had no chance of winning with such tactics.  Has conveniently come down to a mark 2lbs lower that his last win which came at Ffos Las in September.  I suspect we'll see a much improved effort today.

Goodluck!

Hello all,

1 selection today;

6:45 @ Chepstow - COMPTON POPPY 1pt Win @ 16/1

This is one where I feel Compton will either win or finish right at the back.  She hasn't shown much this season but it's worth remembering she won over this course and distance last year.   Her handicap mark has dropped considerably and this track might just revive her drive to be competitive.  At the price, she's worth having a play.

Good luck!

Hello all,

2 selections today:

Via Serendepity 7:30 Chelmsford 2pts Win @ 4/1
Highly regarded by trainer and is expected to be running in much better races compared to the class 3 he runs in today. A mark of 88 would seriously underestimate his ability if he performs to that potential. Definitely worth backing in this grade at the price.

Je Suis Charlie 8:20 Haydock 1pt EW @ 5/1
A very consistent sort and what I would suggest is a safe each way bet. Ground and trip won't be a problem. Stable jockey on board. Market support is also positive so I'm hoping he gets his head in front today.

Goodluck!

Hello all,

1 selection today

5:50 Newbury - CHICA DE LA NOCHE 1pt EW @ 12/1

Chica was gambled (from 12/1 to 2/1) as if defeat was impossible last time out. You guessed it, the bookies won on the day.  I saw enough ability to note the filly in my notebook.  Waited with at the back for most of the race, she finally made her move with 2 furlongs to go.  She was checked at a crucial point when she was just about to join the leaders.  Sarangoo, who came 3rd in the race also faces her again.  I have no doubt whatsoever that Chica would have finished ahead of Sarangoo with a clear run.  This time, Chica even has a 5lb advantage over Sarangoo compared to their weights in the last race.  Looking at the odds, Sarangoo has been gambled from 11/1 to 7/1 already whereas Chica is about 12/1.  I'm astonished to say the least, but that's the beauty of handicap pricing.  There's something very suspect about that gamble.  Either that or someone knows something I don't.  Ground and trip remains the same so I will happily put my money on Chica and hope for better luck in running.  I don't think those odds of 12/1 will last long when the market corrects itself so get on while it's available, if you decide to have a play.

Good luck!

Hello all,

One selection today;

8:40 Kempton - SEE AND BE SEEN 1pt EW @ 13/2

SABS paid a huge price for winning several races between 2013 to 2015 having jumped from a handicap mark of 45 to 80. It's taken 2 years to come down to an attractive mark of 63.  Crucially, he showed signs of loving the game once again by coming second last time, despite meeting trouble in running two furlongs out.   More interestingly, SABS won this race 3 years ago so I am pretty sure the owners are aiming to repeat that feat.  Sylvester Kirk's horses are running well and Mitch Goodwin who knows the horse well and takes off a valuable 5lbs, rides.  Let's hope our money is on SABS on the right day because he's shown me enough to suggest he's ready to bolt up!

Good luck!

26/06/2017

Hello all,

2 selections today;

2:45 Wolverhampton - SUPER JULIUS - 1pt Win @ 5/2

Super Julius was gambled last time out as if defeat was not an option.  It didn't quite pan out that way for his backers although he wasn't too far away from the winner.  He will be wearing cheekpieces for the first time today to help sharpen him up and drops a grade as well.  He's slipped down the handicap and should be capable of winning this.

5:00 Chepstow - GARTH ROCKETT 0.5pt EW @ 25/1

This is a tentative selection but one that could be worth it at double figure odds.  Still unexposed and was well beaten on his first start of the season over 10 furlongs.  The horse clearly didn't stay the trip but was with the pack up until 4 furlongs out.  He could be potentially better than what we've seen so far if you ignore that run over 10f.  At 25/1, he's worth having a small each way punt on.

Good luck!

24/06/2017

Hello all,

4 selections today;

3:05 Ascot - CENTRAL SQUARE - 1pt EW @ 8/1

Varian has had this race in mind for Central Square since the start of the season.  He had a run to blow the cobwebs away and should be spot on for this race.  The trip will suit and the blinkers will certainly sharpen him up.  The draw could have been more favourable.  If Andrea Atzeni can overcome that and obtain a good position early on, I think he'll take all the beating.  Handles good-to-firm or good ground so light showers shouldn’t be a problem.  Khairaat is clearly very progressive so everyone else could well be playing for each way money.  The 13lb rise since the last win won’t make life easy for Khairaat so I’m happy to take him on with Central Square.

3:40 Ascot - IDAHO - 0.5pt EW @ 5/1

At the price, Idaho seems to be a safe each way bet.  Placed on multiple occasions in classics last season, he clearly needed the run last time out on his first start this season.  That run would have him cherry ripe for this race.  The favourite, Dartmouth, is no slouch but is priced at around 7/4.  You'll find better value on Idaho each way who is very capable of winning this. Trip and ground will suit and he has his regular jockey on board.  If the ground changes to good-to-soft then Dartmouth will be very hard to beat.

4.20 Ascot - TASLEET - 1pt EW @ 8/1

First of all, I want to talk about the favourite, Limato.  I have a lot of respect for Limato based on what he did last season obviously.  He’s been disappointing in his last two runs; the rain softened ground are valid excuses.  The ground today should be perfect if the predicted light showers aren’t significant.  If there is ever a time to doubt Limato however, then surely it has to be today until he proves he’s back in form.  That is one of the reasons why I’m happy to tip up Tasleet who I fancy to run a big race.  I hope I don’t regret it.  Tasleet is the one horse I’ve been looking forward to backing all week at Ascot.  I loved the way Tasleet went through the field to win the race last time out.  He has clearly improved for the drop back to 6 furlongs.  He handles any ground, has Jim Crowley on board and Haggas absolutely loves the horse, based on comments Crowley made last time.  The Tin Man warrants respect as a course and distance winner but the draw isn’t favourable.  Throughout the week, the higher drawn horses have performed better at Ascot sprints, which bodes well for Tasleet and Limato(*gulp*).  I feel there is more to come from Tasleet and I hope we see that in this race.  Out of respect for Limato, I have opted for a 1pt EW.bet

5:20 Newmarket - SUMMER CHORUS - 1pt EW @ 11/1

Summer Chorus was never going to have a chance on her first run of the season last time; especially not against horses who had already run on average 3-4 times already this season.  That experience should put her spot on for this race.  A class 4 handicap where the ground and trip will suit and has a jockey who knows her really well.  Her record at Newmarket is great, run 4 times, won twice, placed twice.  I think he has a good chance of winning this.

Goodluck!

Hello all,

1 selection today

7:40 Ayr - EBTKAAR 1pt win @ 4/1

Ebtkaar has shown improvement on both runs so far to suggest he will be winning very soon.
Since 2016, Roger Varian has had just 3 runners at Ayr and has a 100% winning record to protect. Let's just say he doesn't go on a 740-mile round trip for nothing. Lamloom has experience at Ayr and bumped into a nice horse last time but I'm not convinced the step up in trip will suit.  Liquid Gold is a short priced favourite but she didn't look a straight forward ride and is worth taking on at those odds.  This is a maiden so I'm hoping an outsider doesn't spoil the show.

Good luck!

Hello all,

Just 1 selection today;

5:20 Chelmsford - SAVED MY BACON - 3pts Win @ 6/1 (Max Bet)

SMB is a Chelmsford specialist (4-time course winner) and is a horse I've closely monitored, waiting for the right moment to bet.  He's been in much tougher races recently and performed with great credit in them.  He even came close to winning a competitive class 4 race two runs ago. This is a much easier race with Lewis Edmunds  taking off 5lbs to ease the top weight burden.  I can't find a negative on his chances today so I'm expecting a big run.  Absolutely Awesome would be the danger. A lightly raced 3 year old with potential for improvement. I'd rather put my money on a tried and tested performer however.

Good luck!

20/06/2017

Hello all,

4 selections today.  2 in the same race;

3:05 Ascot - MURILLO 1pt Win @ 7/1

I was really impressed by the win last time out.  AOB knows how to ready a horse for the big occassion.  Ground and trip will suit.

3:05 Ascot - ARAWAK - 0.5pt EW @ 15/2

Having a saver as the trainer seems confident of a big performance.

3:40 Ascot - MARSHA - 1pt Win @ 10/3

If Marsha performs to the standard of her last run, I think she'll beat Lady Aurelia.  I don't think Lady Aurelia will have the race run to suit if she tries to kick on from the front.  Too many front runners in the race will force her to burnout close to the finish.  That will suit the likes of Marsha, Goldream and Washington DC.  Considering Marsha beat those two with a penalty last time out, I expect her to win again without a penalty this time.  Conditions will suit.

5:00 Ascot - WHO DARES WINS - 0.5pt EW @ 11/2

Unlucky in the Chester Cup, was gambled and had to switch on the outside at a crucial stage.  Montaly got first run and took full advantage.

Good luck!

Hello all,

Just 1 selection on Sunday

Dark Emerald 3:45 Salisbury 0.5pt EW @ 40/1

Brendan Powell's horses are finally back on form.  There's an element of risk with this selection because we don't know whether the horse is fit or not, having been off for 78 days. The handicap mark is very attractive however.  The last time Dark Emerald ran off such a low mark was in 2015.  I feel this is a risk worth taking because the track and trip will suit, plus the trainer is back on form.

Good luck!

17/06/2017

Hello all,

Just 1 selection today

Viscount Barfield 2:20 York 1pt EW @ 14/1 (Bet365)
I tipped this up not too long ago but sadly didn't get any luck in running. There are 18 runners today so will need all the luck in running for sure. I think we'll see a strong performance if luck is on our side as ground and trip will suit.

Side note:

7:20 Lingfield

Although the trip is perfect, I think Jule In The Crown would prefer some juice in the ground. She'll be one to watch out for whenever she runs over 6f on good/good to soft ground. I was really taken by her last run at Leicester and based on that performance, her turn won't be too far away. I just don't think it'll be today as this race has some unexposed types in Cashla bay and Cartographer.

Good luck!

Hello all,

2 selections today:

6:20 Lingfield - Daisy Boy 1pt EW @ 7/1
Daisy boy has an attractive mark, has run well at Lingfield and won over the trip.  He had a decent break and any market support woule be very significant

4:45 Yarmouth - Tigserin 1pt EW
Wearing cheekpieces for the first time.  If they work, would definitely have a good chance in this mediocre race.

Goodluck!

Hello all,

Just 1 selection today

8:30 Windsor - COMPRISE 1pt EW @ 5/1

Comprise did not enjoy the soft ground last time out. If the put a line through that run, he is still  unexposed and will likely have a lot more to  offer.  Ground and trip will be to his liking today.

Goodluck!

07/06/2017

Hello All,

Just 1 selection today;

2:50 Wolverhampton - SECRET LOOK 1pt E/W @ 10/1

Secret Look has come down to a very attractive mark and he could be worth backing it today especially because of the positive market vibes since last night.  Has run 5 times for a new stable and never been backed in all 5 races.  With a 44 day break, I can only think he must be working nicely at home again.  The favourite, Titus secret is nothing special, has a poor record on the all weather so I'm happy to take him on with Secret Look.

Secret Look on the other hand has won at Wolverhampton before off a higher mark, has an excellent draw and has run in much tougher races before.  If he's in rude health, he wins.

Good luck!

As a side note, I believe the selections I gave on the weekend (Epsom Icon & Eddystone Rock) are worth following when there's been a significant amount of rain.  Unfortunately, although it rained on the Friday, we had sunshine throughout Saturday which hindered all chances of Epsom Icon running a good race (ground was good to firm).  Eddystone Rock on the other hand, ran very well and traded at 1.2 in running.  Again, soft ground would have brought out the best in him and I think he would have won on soft ground.  Two selections worth keeping in your notebook.  Genuine horses that are very ground dependent and with excellent handicap marks.

Hello all,

2 selections today and I'm hoping we can start off June with a winner!

2:35 Epsom - EPSOM ICON 1pt EW @ 12/1 (Bet365)

EI has come down to a very attractive mark.  Now lower than her last win (at Epsom). Likes to get her toe in and with the rain falling yesterday evening, conditions will be perfect.  Jim Crowley is onboard which is a big plus.  The filly loves Epsom and has a 100% record so far (2 attempts).  Let's hope that form continues.

5:15 Epsom - EDDYSTONE ROCK 1pt EW @ 11/1 (Paddy Power)

This is a gelding I've closely monitored over the last few months.  The win against Laganore back in August 2016 was very impressive and I've been waiting to see ER get the ground he loves.  There was a bit of rain yesterday so I have no ground concerns.  Trip-wise, this is new territory but he wasn't stopping when he won in August.  I'm willing to take a chance.  If he stays the trip, I think he'll have a massive chance.  Ran at Epsom last time out and got hampered but crucially, showed he can handle the track.  At double figure odds, I'm more than happy to have a play.

Good luck!

Hello all,

1 selection today;

2:55 Windsor - APRES MIDI 2pts Win @ 9/2 (Skybet)

This very well bred filly had a satisfactory reappearence last time.  She certainly ran like she needed the run and would be fully wound up for this. Sired by Galileo, the step up in trip will not be a problem, no ground concerns either. Very lightly raced and it's very likely there's more to come. Top jockey on board.

Good luck!

Hello all,

1 selection today;

2:50 Curragh - RED LABEL 1pt win @ 7/4 (Paddy Power)

Jessica Harrington is very excited about this horse who was meant to be supplemented for the Irish 2000 Guineas, but they've chosen this race instead.  Good decision I think, judging by how Churchill performed yesterday.

Good luck!

Hello all

Just 2 selections today;

4:20 Goodwood - TOP TUG - 1pt win @ 5/1

Was a fast finishing second against Frontiersman who is being campaigned for much bigger races. Ground and trip should not be a problem and will be much sharper today following that season reappearance. Should have a good chance of getting his head in front

3:40 Chester - ENERGIA FOX - 1pt win @ 9/2

Has run well at Chester and the owner loves to have winners at Chester. Should have a good chance of winning today

Good luck!

Hello All,

2 selections today;

7:05 Sandown - BIG ORANGE - 2pts Win @ 6/4

Conditions will suit Big Orange down to the ground. Had a decent reappearance last time out and would be fully wound up for this. Receives 7lbs allowance from Quest For More. The only danger is Elidor who is unexposed at 2m.

5:25 Goodwood - POUR LA VICTOIRE - 1pt E/W @ 14/1

PLV won this race last year off 2lb higher.  Conditions will suit again today.  There's been a slight nibble in the market overnight which always bodes well for Carroll's runners.  Should have a good chance if wound up for this.

Good luck!

Hello all,

Just 1 selection today:

2:10 @ Newcastle - THE KING'S STEED 1pt EW @ 12/1

Micky Hammond is finally back on form and this is the right time to keep an eye on his runners, especially those who have come down in handicap mark by a huge margin.  The King's Steed is a prime example, especially with Graham Lee booked.  Judging by the market move last night on the horse, I can only think the horse is showing very positive signs at home and a big run is expected.

Good luck!

Hello All,

Just 1 selection today;

4:05 @ York - HERE COMES WHEN 1pt EW @ 12/1 (Paddy Power)

Here Comes When will love the ground, the softer the better.  He has a very attractive looking handicap mark.  The last time this gelding ran off such a low mark, he won a group 2 race going away at the finish.  With Andrew Balding's horses running very well at the moment, I would expect him to place at least as we search for our first winner!

Goodluck!

Hello all,

Just 1 selection today

8:20 Windsor - JE SUIS CHARLIE 1pt EW @ 8/1 (Paddy Power)

Je Suis Charlie was highly regarded by the trainer last year and really needed the run last time out.  Stepped up in trip again this time and will relish the extra distance.  Trainer is in great form too

Good luck!

Hello all,

2 selections on Wednesday;

0.5pt EW DOUBLE @ 26.5/1 (Paddy Power)

SIR MAXIMILIAN 3:00 Chester - 1pt Win @ 4/1 (Coral)

Well drawn, well weighted, runs in an easier race than usual and encounters perfect ground conditions & trip.  Has been campaigned for Chester.  Big chance

VISCOUNT BARFIELD 7:25 Chelmsford - 1pt Win @ 9/2 (Bet365)

VB needs a strong pace to be seen to good effect and looks a likely improver.  The run at Chelmsford last time out was quite encouraging as he stayed on despite Ryan Moore's intelligent sleep riding tactics on That Is The Spirit.  VB is 4lbs better off here over TITS and will certainly have a big chance here.  With a few front runners in the race, I'm hoping a strong pace is set for Viscount to aim at and finish like a train.

Good luck!

Hello all,

2 selections on Monday:

6:10 Chelmsford - WORDINESS - 2pts Win @ 11/4 (Paddy Power)

At this point last year, this gelding was rated 86 and he's now rated 64.  Over the last few months, I would say Wordiness only really made a serious attempt to win a race on 14/4/17.  Traded at 1.44 in-running and looked like the winner from 2 out but I felt amateur jockey David Egan might have made his move too soon and got caught out in that class 4 race over 1m 5f.  He was beaten by Midtech Star on that day, who has since gone on to win again, beating an 83 rated horse in a field full of mid 70s rated rivals.  He's run well before at Chelmsford and placed so I have no concerns about the track.
Wordiness runs over 1m5f again but in a class 6 race this time.  He's had a short rest and will have a strong chance of getting his head in front with the former champion jockey, De Sousa, on board.

8:10 Chelmsford - NEWSTEAD ABBEY 1pt EW @ 5/1 (Bet365)

This horse was heavily punted last time out but raced very keenly and lost all chance as a result.  The blinkers have now been left off.  This time last year, he was rated 95 and has now dropped to a mouth watering mark of 70.   Champion jockey, Jim Crowley, takes over from amateur jockey, Clifford Lee.  Newstead Abbey has won over 7f several times and the track shouldn't pose a problem considering he's done well at similar all-weather tracks before.  The only slight worry is the form of the trainer which suggests he's not yet firing on all cylinders.

Good luck!

Hello all,

1 selection today:

2:55 Newmarket - EASTERN IMPACT - 1pt EW Currently 6/1

Reasons:
Loves Newmarket
Loves good to firm ground
Stable jockey (former champ) on board
Horse won the race last year off a lower mark
Trainer in great form
Trainer's horses who have performed poorly over the winter in UAE tend to perform very well when they return to the UK.
Horse has had a nice 2 month break since the last run in the UK which suggests they have had this race in mind for awhile.

I may have a selection on Monday, depending on the odds.

Good luck!
