GORDON ELLIOTT INTERVIEW - 08/02/2018

Leading Irish trainer Gordon Elliott has once again kindly provided davemooretips.com with an mini interview with Cheltenham coming up to give us an update on some of his leading lights.

Thanks so much for taking the time out to speak to me again Gordon, I know you’re busy so I really appreciate it

You came so close to being Irish Champion trainer last year and look in a great position to get past the post this season, has last year spurred you on to reach the summit of Irish racing and realise that ambition?

Came close to the title last year, it is not going to be easy but we’ll keep trying and keep improving, that’s the main aim

Pallasator was a horse that took my attention this season and ran better than I thought he would on horrible ground on debut against some top horses, is he likely to make the Supreme at Cheltenham and on better ground do you expect to see a different horse?

Yes we will have a look at entering Pallasator but he will definitely be a better horse on better ground

Another horse in the Supreme entries is Mengli Khan who I thought ran a cracker behind Getabird given the weight difference and off the back of running out at Leopardstown.  Is the plan still to head to the Supreme and do you think you can overturn Getabird on better ground?

The plan is the supreme with Mengli Khan, he is better on better ground but Getabird is a very very good horse

Apple's Jade is a horse that the public love and she proved she has the stamina for three miles whilst i've no doubt she has plenty of pace for two miles, are you tempted by the Stayers' Hurdle or Champion Hurdle or are you likely to head to retain the Mares' Hurdle in March?

At the moment the Mares Hurdle in March is the plan with Apple’s Jade

Samcro is a name on everybody's lips right now and one I have a specific interest in ante post wise for the Ballymore, can you confirm (and wipe away any doubts) that the aim for him will be the Ballymore?

At this stage it is hard to make a decision on Samcro’s plans but it will either be the Ballymore or the Supreme Novices, Id imagine the Ballymore

Gigginstown don't usually aim many at the Champion Bumper however one horse I was hoping they would do this season is Felix Desjy, how is he and how likely is it that he will line up at Cheltenham?

Felix Desjy is in very good form however he is a doubtful contender for Cheltenham.

You highlighted Last Minute Man as a horse to look out for this season but he has yet to be seen on the racetrack, how is he and what are the plans for him?

Last Minute Man is still in very good form he will be aimed at a Maiden Hurdle in the coming weeks

Rapid Escape is a horse with massive potential and a big future, are you looking to look after him this season and aim big next year or do you have any targets in mind this season?

Rapid Escape won’t be doing much more for the rest of the season

I'm of the opinion that Noble Endeavor looks tailormade for the Grand National this season, are you likely to send him to Aintree and do you think he has a live chance?

Noble Endeavor will be aimed at Aintree and that is the plan with him

Once again thank you very much for taking the time out to speak to me, good luck for the Festivals and ofcourse the rest of the season.
